In an attempt to retrieve the experiences of Catholic women who exercised their freedom of conscience when faced with the dilemma of terminating a pregnancy, Catholics for the Right to Decide and the National Catholic Network of Young People for the Right to Decide have collected testimonies in the form of ex-vows (a type of votive offerings) from women of different ages and states of the Mexican Republic who have faced unplanned or unwanted pregnancies and have used their freedom of conscience to make a decision.
An ex-vow is a way of thanking God, the Virgin, or a saint for a favor received. It is expressed through a drawing that describes the situation and the benefit obtained.
